Committee Meeting Monday 29th April 2024


The chairman Bro. Philip Learmonth opened the meeting welcoming all those in attendance.

Apologies were extended on behalf of George McIntyre, Ian Ferris, Bill Workman and Sam McFadzean..

Present :- Chair Philip Learmonth, in attendance, Jim Laing, Stewart Ellis, Ryan Duncan, Jim Cosgrove,, Brian Robertson, Dave Dewars, Harry Conway, Graham Webster, Craig Rennie and Jim Keir.

Business

Jim Laing reported on recent changes to Grand Lodge’s website regarding new affiliate members and also his recent contact with the Registers of Scotland concerning the lodge’s application on the Register of Controlled Interest.

He also read out two letters from the P.G.L. of Forfarshire concerning the proposed P.G.L. of Forfarshire’s Zip Slide Challenge and the recent Quarterly Communication. Both these letters require to be read out in open lodge.

The treasurer reported that the monies from the recent Richard Gough night have not yet been paid into our account. The secretary will make representations once again to the organisers of the event. The treasurer also reported on the Gas account for the lodge which is substantially in the red. Following discussion, it was agreed to leave the standing order as it is and revisit this aspect later in the year. The treasurer also reported he has now put all the lodges finances on a spreadsheet which clearly identifies all our income and expenditure.

The chairman advised the committee that Wednesday’s Regular meeting will be minutes and business followed by a short lecture by Past Master Harry Conway.

Brian Robertson noted that the evening prior to the summer Degree when we normally set up the hall, a 13th birthday party has been booked. The secretary will contact Dave Melville to see if this can be re-arranged. Craig Rennie reported on the recent Complaints/discipline event he attended organized by PGL. Outlining the benefits of dealing with any matters in house in the first instance. Craig also indicated that the Carse of Gowrie lodge would be most interested in doing a Degree in either Grange or their lodge. It was agreed we should pursue this matter following the Installation later this year.

Jim Cosgrove reported on Past Master George Isbister’s recent hospitalisation and the slow progress on his recovery.
